Nicholas Lavallee
Media Services Coordinator
Oversees administration and promotes growth of the Town's three PEG Access channels and TV studio. Assists community volunteers in production and training.
Nicholas has a background in radio and television broadcasting, including on air programming for two of New England's top rated radio stations. Additionally, has 4 years of PEG Access administration, broadcast and production with a degree in Communications. In the spring of 2003 Lavallee completed a semester of teaching "Intro to Video Production" at MHS. During the experience, he earned his statement of eligibility for certification from the NH Department of Education to teach TV production full time. Between November 2004 and April 2005, Lavallee's implemented strategies were instrumental to the 65% increase in programs airing on the Merrimack Community Channel.
In March of 2005 The Nashua Telegraph published a front page article on Lavallee and his role at Merrimack TV. Lavallee's desire to educate Merrimack residents in the potential of Community Media's impact to a Town led to April 2005's "Live Election Night Coverage". Ironically, it was the largest voter turnout in Town to date, and the coverage received praise from many residents. The following week, The Union Leader newspaper published a large color picture and story about the broadcast.
In April of 2005 Nicholas was named the New Hampshire state representative to Community Media by the NHCCM, serving the Northeast Alliance for Community Media. Nicholas has won first place awards from the Alliance for Community Northeast region twice, "State of Emergency: Flooding in Merrimack" in 2006 and "First Time Voter" in 2007. In 2008 Lavallee plans to launch Merrimack TV on the internet, beginning with podcasting and live streaming video of the Town's Government TV programs.
